People contact me for many reasons. Often, the impetus seems to fall into one of two categories. Sometimes something has happened to a person that has significantly changed their world, such as the loss of a loved one, a personal setback, or a significant life transition. Other times, someone might contact me because they feel as though nothing has changed, and they are feeling stuck. These kinds of scenarios can leave a person feeling confused, disconnected, frustrated, and alone. However, these scenarios are highly amenable to therapy.
I've been called "not shrinky," and I think that fits. Though I utilize a variety of clinical techniques such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, and motivational interviewing, therapy with me probably will feel more like old-fashioned talking. Sometimes we'll look back, and sometimes we'll focus on the here and now, but the goal always is to help you get reconnected, engaged, and in charge of your life.
